Haiku Daily
What exactly, is haiku?
It is a Japanese poem written in 17 syllables that are divided into 3 separate lines. Each line contains a set number of syllables - 5, 7, 5. The poems traditionally are written about the seasons and the subject is treated with reverence.
Since I spend 90-120 minutes on NJ Transit Monday through Friday, I figured I should do something constructive with my time. Writing haiku challenges my brain and forces me to come up with new words so that I can communicate within the haiku structure. However, my haiku is definitely not the typical Japanese poem. I tend to write about things that tick me off on a daily basis. I poke fun at stuff and mostly, I write them to amuse myself and my daughter. She inspired me to publish these and so I have. Let me know if you have a topic and I will try to write you a haiku that fits it. Go to the Contact page and submit!
While I know many of these are dark, they do not necessarily represent my life. Some aspects do, but I look to others for inspiration. People I know; people I don't know, but who interest me in some way. I have an imagination and I use it to create. So, don't worry about me. I'm doing just fine.

ABOUT ME
I write haiku for fun and it helps to pass the time on my daily commute from NJ to NYC. This blog is my ode to Haiku poetry written on a daily basis representing trials and tribulation of this writer's every day life. I am interested in photography too, so check out my pics on Instagram and Flickr.
